Flotation column is a type of flotation equipment which has profile of column or rectangular body without impeller or propoller inside, as an efficient and power-saving flotation equipment, it has high enrichment ratio, small area needed, low labour cost and better recovery rate on fine particles than conventional flotation machine.

Different from flotation machine, the air bubbles for flotation is generated by high pressure through a lance-type sparger, named micro-bubble generator. By this method, bubbles generated in column flotation cell will be much more and smaller than produced in flotation machine. It provide more chance of contact between mineral particles and bubbles. Furthermore, automatic adjustment valve will be used to control the slurry level in column, which ensure the whole flotation process functioning in stable condition.

During the last decades, flotation column has been installed as rougher, cleaer and scavenger in flotation course, applied in nonferrous metal minerals such as Mo, Cu, W, Fe, Pb, Zn and nonmetals like P, S, F.
